From Strategic Location to National Transit Hub
Situated in Vietnam’s Southern Key Economic Region. Dong Nai Province has emerged not only as a historically significant locality but also as a leading center for industry, logistics, and transportation. In recent years, the province has accelerated the implementation of critical infrastructure projects, laying the foundation for transformative growth in the coming decade.
Economic expansion in Long Thanh, Nhon Trach, Trang Bom, and Thong Nhat districts is not merely an urban development process. But an integrated strategy that includes high-tech industry, smart logistics, and inter-provincial and international connectivity.
Infrastructure as a Launchpad
The development of Long Thanh International Airport is a historical milestone for Dong Nai Province. Once operational, the airport will reduce pressure on Tan Son Nhat International Airport. It will also become the core of a modern logistics ecosystem for the southern economic region. The airport will connect goods and passengers across Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, and Binh Duong. It will also serve as a gateway to ASEAN regional markets, enhancing international logistics capacity.
At the same time, key expressways like Ben Luc–Long Thanh and Bien Hoa–Vung Tau are taking shape. The Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road No. 3 is also under construction and links with Dong Nai. These expressways are reshaping the regional logistics map and improving transport efficiency. They shorten travel times and reduce transportation costs for manufacturing and trade enterprises.
Meanwhile, inland container depots such as Long Binh and Trang Bom are being actively developed. These ICDs are transforming Dong Nai into a major consolidation and distribution center. They help relieve congestion at seaports like Cat Lai and Cai Mep – Thi Vai.
Industrial Acceleration and Structural Shift
Dong Nai is currently home to 32 planned industrial zones, with more than 30 already approved and operational—making it one of the most industrialized provinces in Vietnam. Key zones such as Amata, Long Duc, Loc An – Binh Son, Giang Dien, and Hoa Binh attract significant foreign direct investment, particularly from Japan, South Korea, and the European Union.
The development orientation for 2025–2030 emphasizes high-tech manufacturing, green production, supporting industries, and sectors with low labor intensity. This shift is necessary in response to rising labor costs and increasingly strict global standards on carbon emissions and sustainable supply chains.
Smart manufacturing technologies, digital platforms, and automated industrial operations are being increasingly adopted across Dong Nai’s industrial base, supported by advanced telecommunications infrastructure and skilled human resources.
Logistics as a Critical Link in the Value Chain
Logistics is becoming a strategic strength for Dong Nai in its quest to become a national and regional transit hub. Leading logistics firms such as Transimex, Gemadept, ITL, Indochina Post, and Bee Logistics have established a presence in the province to capitalize on its position in both domestic and international supply chains.
The integration of industrial parks, ICDs, Long Thanh Airport, and a multi-modal transport network is paving the way for a comprehensive logistics ecosystem—a model similar to those successfully implemented in global logistics centers like Singapore and the Netherlands.
Dong Nai is also formulating long-term strategies to promote green logistics and smart warehousing, aiming to meet global requirements for traceability, energy efficiency, and carbon reduction—key criteria for competitiveness in sustainable trade.
Human Capital – The Core of Sustainable Development
No development strategy is sustainable without high-quality human resources. Dong Nai is investing heavily in vocational education, international academic collaboration, and workforce upskilling to meet the demands of Industry 4.0.
Programs focused on digital skills, entrepreneurship, production management, and foreign languages are being integrated into schools, universities, and enterprises, creating a generation of agile and globally competitive workers.
Vision Toward 2045 – Dong Nai in the Global Economic Landscape
By 2045, Dong Nai aims to become a leading center for sustainable industry and logistics in the ASEAN region. Long Thanh International Airport and regional expressways will support seamless multimodal connectivity across Vietnam and neighboring countries. The province prioritizes green growth, digital transformation, and high-tech industrial upgrading as core pillars of development. Eco-industrial zones and smart logistics hubs are key components of this vision for industrial sustainability. Dong Nai is also investing in workforce training and urban livability to attract and retain skilled labor. These efforts aim to enhance long-term competitiveness in a rapidly evolving economic environment. The province seeks not only growth but also resilience and innovation as guiding principles for the future. It will contribute significantly to Vietnam’s goal of becoming a high-income country by 2045. Self-reliance and adaptability continue to shape Dong Nai’s development path in the global landscape.
